Withdrawal symptoms
From Drug Rehab Wiki
Withdrawal symptoms are the body's physical reaction to stopping the use of a drug. Sometimes psychological withdrawal symptoms are also considered when describing a person's withdrawal from a specific drug.
Withdrawal symptoms vary in type, intensity, and duration depending on the type of drug stopped, how much was taken, and length of time the drug was used. For some drugs, withdrawal symptoms can be life threatening and a medically monitored detox is advised for both safety and comfort. In some cases, other drugs are administered to ameliorate the severity of certain withdrawal symptoms. For example, opiate detox is often facilitated through the use of suboxone or subutex.
Withdrawal symptoms may include anxiety, depression, sleepiness, agitation, sweating, heart palpitations, seizures, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, shaking or delirium tremens, hallucinations, or suicidal ideation.
