Under the Controlled Substances Act drugs are classified based on the potential for abuse, although some have criticized the classifications as somewhat arbitrary. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration determine which list a drug appears on.

Schedule II drugs include opiate drugs such as OxyContin and Fentanyl, stimulants such as Methamphetamine, depressants such as Pentobarbital, and the hallucinogen Nabilone
