SAMHSA’s National Mental Health Information Center

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provides a web site, SAMHSA’s National Mental Health Information Center, at http://mentalhealth.samhsa.gov. The web site is part of the SAMHSA Health Information Network. Information is provided through the web site, as well as through a toll-free telephone number (1-800-789-2647), and more than 600 publications.

The SAMHSA’s National Mental Health Information Center is for persons who use mental health services, and their families, as well as policymakers, the general public and the media.

Services

The SAMHSA National Mental Health Information Center provides the following services:

Responding to Questions – The staff of the National Mental Health Information Center listens to and responds to questions from the public and professionals.

Directing Callers – The staff directs callers to the appropriate Federal, state and local organizations whose expertise is in treating and preventing mental illness.

Other Information – The Center also has information on grants (Federal), conferences and other events.
