Roxicet
From Drug Rehab Wiki
Roxicet is a brand name for a combination of the generic drugs oxycodone and acetaminophen. Oxycodone is in the class of drugs called narcotics that are generally used as pain relievers for moderate to severe pain. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever, but it does intensify the effects of the oxycodone. Roxicet is available in other brand names, which include Endocet, Magnacet, Narvox, Percocet 10/325, Percocet 10/650, Percocet 2.5/325, Percocet 5/325, Percocet 7.5/325, Percocet 7.5/500, Perloxx, Primalev, Roxicet and Tylox.
Roxicet is a Schedule II Controlled Substance and highly addictive. When illegally obtained for sale on the street, it’s known by several different names. Percs, paulas, roxicotten, Roxi's, blue dynamite, no buffers and 512s are some of them. Roxicet can be administered in several ways. When administered by subcutaneous injection, there is a quicker onset and effects are stronger. Other forms are taken by the mouth, intravenously, intramuscularly, or rectally.
Abuses of Roxicet
Roxicet is highly addictive both physically and psychologically. Physician monitoring is important to lessen the possibilities of dependence. For those who are recreationally taking Roxicet, addiction is very likely. Withdrawal symptoms are severe and make it very difficult to stop taking Roxicet without professional help.
Roxicet blocks the pain receptors in the brain which creates a feeling of euphoria for the user, especially with the first administration. Abuse easily develops from a desire for that euphoric high which is rarely repeated with the same intensity.
Effects of Roxicet
Individuals take Roxicet for a variety of reasons. It is generally an effective physical pain reliever, but it is also taken by those seeking to dull emotional pain. Roxicet, and its other forms, have been known to reduce feelings of depression, anxiety and fear. As a result, some patients will rely on the drug for such effects rather than deal with specific issues.
Those who are taking Roxicet may experience a loss of concentration, dizziness, the sweats, constipation, dry mouth, nausea or drowsiness. Aside from the physical symptoms, Roxicet abusers may also experience personal and psychological issues that can affect relationships and impair function enough to cause employment difficulties, financial concerns, and legal problems. Withdrawal from Roxicet
Withdrawal from Roxicet, and all similar drugs, can cause severe pain and psychological distress. Symptoms can occur as soon as six to eight hours after the most recent dose of Roxicet.
Symptoms associated with cessation of Roxicet include, but are not limited to:
• gastrointestinal distress
• anxiety
• nausea
• insomnia
• muscle pain
• fevers
• sweating
• runny nose and eyes.
Treatment of Roxicet Addiction
Roxicet addiction causes significant damage to the mind and body. This combined physical and psychological dependence increases the need for medical supervision when coming off of Roxicet. Without proper supervision and careful adherence to the physician’s plan, the damage can be severe and even cause death.
It is recommended that users enter a detox center or drug rehab to begin the process and then closely follow the recommendations of both your physician and a qualified psychiatrist. A step down method is generally the most effective and it’s vital to rid the body of the drug completely. This is necessary to correct the chemical imbalances in the individual suffering with a Roxicet addiction. The most effective treatment includes psychological evaluations and other medical care during this time.
