The brand name for the generic medication alprazolam, Niravam is also available under the band names Xanax, Xanax XR and Alprazolam Intensol. Nirvanam, like its derivatives, is used to treat moderate to severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks and depression. It is a short-acting benzodiazepine. Treatments with Niravam are generally most successful when combined with other medications.

Niravam possesses the properties of anxiolytic, sedative, hyptonic, anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant. As a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Niravam is easily abused on the street and is found under such names as Z-bars, bars, tabs and Upjohn.
