Drink responsibly
From Drug Rehab Wiki
Over the decades since Prohibition the government has attempted to control alcohol advertising based on the concern that these ads could influence adolescents to drink. By regulating where, how, and when companies can advertise alcoholic beverages, they hoped to limit exposure to the typically highly appealing ads. For many years only beer and wine were advertised on American television, although this ban was eventually lifted.
Regulators monitor alcohol advertising to ensure there is no attempt to market to an audience under age 21. They also require alcoholic beverages to carry warning labels, similar to those found on cigarette packaging.
One of the ways companies that produce alcohol have responded to concerns is to add a "Drink Responsibly" message to advertisements. This practice mirrors those of other corporate practices that have attempted to show responsible behavior for a controversial product.
