Detox in drug rehab is a medically supervised process by which the patient is weaned from the addictive drug. The detox process differs based on:
- What drugs are being abused
- Dosage of those drugs
- Length of use
- Frequency of use
- Underlying physical condition of the patient
If the patient is addicted to opiates, the detox might involve administration of a Subutex, Suboxone, or another drug that will mitigate the symptoms of withdrawal.
